MYTH: Asian women are weak-minded and submissive. FACT: The stereotypical facts about Asian women being obedient and submissive is mostly propagated by Western feminists who don’t understand Asian culture. They confuse the quiet nature of Asian women with weakness, when in fact Asian women are sometimes quite strong in ways that Western women are not. In the Philippines, there have been two female Presidents and many mayors and senators. Wives usually handle the family finances, but the man is respected as the head of the household. In Japan, custom dictates that the husband hands over his monthly salary to his wife, who then determines how the money should be allocated and saved. In the workplace and in politics, the men rule in Japan, but women wield great power and influence within the household.
